Carlile Fire Trail
Southeast Tasmania, Tasmania
- Length
- 1.1 km
- Typical time
- 0.1 hours
This short but challenging fire trail cuts through dense eucalyptus forest on the eastern slopes near Hobart, featuring steep rocky sections and loose gravel surfaces that demand careful vehicle placement. The trail offers glimpses of the Derwent Valley through the trees while testing drivers with narrow switchbacks and eroded sections typical of Tasmania's maintained fire access routes. Despite its brief length, the combination of gradient and surface conditions makes this a proper test of vehicle capability and driver skill.
Winter conditions can make the rocky sections extremely slippery, while spring rain creates muddy patches that significantly increase difficulty.
