A short but steep fire trail climb through mixed eucalypt forest on the lower slopes of Mount Wellington's eastern face. This access track offers glimpses through the canopy toward the Derwent River valley while navigating loose gravel sections and tight switchbacks cut into the hillside.
Winter conditions can bring ice and snow to higher sections, making the steep grades treacherous.
